The Counter, at The Delaunay

The Delaunay Counter – ever in search of a pre-theatre glass and bite that isn’t a ‘eat 3 courses in 40 minutes before you sit down for 2 hours’ pre-theatre deal, the Delaunay comes to the rescue (in particular if you’re off to the National as it’s just across Waterloo Bridge, but without the crowds you get on the South Bank before a show).  It’s easy enough to get a table, they have candles, a series of snacks that are varied and good enough (word to the wise – have the chicken schnitzel sandwich), efficient service, and drinks to suit your mood.  Cake and coffee sometimes appeals, and is particularly well executed in true Viennese fashion.
