I went to Milos whilst in NYC recently and needing to eat in Midtown. The space is huge and beautiful and centres around the fish counter is gorgeous – that’s clearly where the food focus of the restaurant is too, rightly. Service was friendly (once you’re past the usual snitty ‘welcome’ desk) and old school. The menu is far too long, portions are far too large, but at least retain elegant presentation, and you can at least pretend here that you are eating healthily (there are menu items that are vegetables!). The wine list has some interesting (and interestingly priced) Greek island wines. So, it’s nice enough in that way that midtown restaurants are: expensive, the odd really delicious thing (see Marea’s red prawn tagliorini https://www.marea-nyc.com), a good wine list, and everything the right side of the pass mark*. They are open now in London, and we’ll be interested to see how it translates across the pond. Our guess? it won’t. But what do we know? *A short note on the exception to this rule will follow soon.
